The Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Mr. José Maria Neves was in attendance at Melia Tortuga Beach this week, for a presentation by The Resort Group regarding progress on Dunas Beach Resort, and the launch of The Resort Group Foundation.
The Resort Group Foundation has been established to support the children of Cape Verde, with funding and donations for local schools, communities and charity projects. It is committed to making a difference to the lives of young people in Cape Verde and offering new opportunities, good health and prosperity for future generations.
Ms.Analita Neves, in her role as President of the Foundation, addressed the VIP guests to thank them for their attendance and to set out the aims the Foundation, stating that it would contribute to building a better future for all local Children, with a specific focus on investing in education.
The focus of the meeting then changed to our Melia Dunas Beach Resort, which is due to open in November of this year. TRG representative, Victor Fidalgo, presented the latest on the Dunas project; with statistical data relating to the return’s and key benefits the new resort will deliver Cape Verde, including the 700 jobs it will create.
Our honorary Chairman, Rob Jarrett, then made a speech to thank the Prime Minister for his government’s ongoing support for our projects in Cape Verde, as well as highlighting our ongoing commitment in the region, which now includes the Charity Foundation.
Finally, the Prime Minister of Cape Verde thanked The Resort Group for the invitation and paid tribute to the work that The Resort Group have done so far, and the impact this will have on the economy. Read more about The President’s speech here.
This successful meeting demonstrates the close links The Resort Group have with the Government of Cape Verde, as well as the positive impact our projects have on the Islands.
Other representatives from the Cape Verde Government included, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Energy, Mr. Humberto Brito, Director General of Tourism, Mr. Emanuel Almeida and the President of the School of Hotel Management and Tourism, Mrs. Nadia Firmino.
