Number of passengers at Cape Verde’s airports rises 13.2% in 2012

The number of international passengers at Cape Verde’s airports increased by 13.2% in 2012 to 1.019 million people, passing the 1 million mark for the first time, the Cape Verdean press has reported.

Amílcar Cabral International Airport, on Sal Island, handled the most passengers, 599,000, followed by the airport at Praia, the country’s capital, with 497,000 people and then Boa Vista with 425,000, which represents the fastest growing airport with an increase of 16.6%.

“Last year Thomsonfly and TUI fly led the market in terms of passenger transport, followed by TAP – Air Portugal”, said Janine Cabral, of ASA’s communications department, adding that this year the number of passengers will grow once more and remain at over 1 million.
